Cartographie du français en Australie ; défis pédagogiques d'aujourd'hui, solutions pratiques de demain Mapping French in Australia; pedagogical challenges of today, practical solutions for tomorrow
Thursday 27 September - Sunday 30 September, 2018 University of Sydney, The New Law School , Sydney, NSW
Considering the state of flux in which the contemporary teaching and learning of French as a foreign language finds itself, a recontextualization of the associated aims and objectives may be necessary. What points in common exist in teaching and learning French across Australasia, whether it be in the primary, secondary or tertiary sector? What are the pedagogical challenges facing educators and learners of French? What practical solutions can we provide to meet these challenges and better train our future teachers of the discipline?
The biennial Federation of Associations of Teachers of French in Australia (FATFA) conference will be held in 2018 in conjunction with the New South Wales Association of French Teachers (NAFT) at the University of Sydney. We invite paper, workshop (20 minutes) and panel (three x 20 minute) proposals related to the theme of Mapping French in Australasia. Topics may include, but are not limited to the following:
Standardisation of French teaching and learning criteria across Australasia
Differences in the teaching of French across Australasia
New techniques, flipped classroom, information and communication technologies related to teaching French
Successful strategies and techniques to raise or maintain the profile of French in a school or university setting
The place of culture in teaching French (primary, secondary, tertiary)
Disciplinary stereotypes and innovations in teaching and learning French
Multiplicity and interdisciplinarity in teaching and learning French
What French to teach and learn?
How can French help our students to become citizens of the world?
What approaches to teaching and learning French in Australasia for the future?
